Hit the Road and Encourage Your Child’s Teacher

We don’t need one more thing to do, but what if your family could be on mission without putting a specific event on your calendar? What? That doesn’t make sense? Sure it does! Look at the stories of Jesus in the Bible. Jesus most often just encountered people along the way – as He walked along the road. Our Rocky Creek children’s ministry wants to partner with parents as we begin to focus on missions as a lifestyle.

Our “Music and Missions” kids (which, by the way,  is from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays) prepared gift bags for teachers. We prayed for those who teach our children at school, and we sent the kids out to display their appreciation for their teachers. This act of kindness was a simple way for your child to show the love of Christ with his or her teacher. It was also a way to invite your child’s teacher to come and visit with us at Rocky Creek. Each bag included a note from Joy Emery encouraging the teachers on the days that are simply hard.

If your child didn’t get a gift for his or her teacher, stop by Joy’s office and ask for a gift for the teacher. You can adopt your child’s teacher as a ministry project for the entire year. Ask how you can help in the classroom. Teach your child to respond to the teacher’s needs by being an encourager and helper in the classroom. Pray for your child’s teacher and then look for ways you can minister to the teacher or meet the teacher’s needs throughout the year.
