This past Sunday in our Gospel Groups we looked at John 13.  Jesus is hours away from His crucifixion, and He takes up the position of a servant at the Passover meal.  The Master and Teacher should not be the one to wash the disciples feet.  However, Jesus puts a towel around his waist and fills a basin with water.  He then wipes the dust and dirt from the feet of the men who have walked with Him for the last three years.  He dries their feet and declares that He has set an example for them.

Matthew 20:28 says that Jesus “did not come to be served, but to serve…” and Philippians 2:7 says, “[He] made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant…”  How about you?  Are you taking the position of a servant and serving others, or are you sitting back and waiting for people to take care of you?  The mission at Rocky Creek is to make disciples that love, grow and serve through intentional relationships.

So, are you following the example of Jesus?  How have you been a servant and where have you served?
