During the month of July, Rocky Creek students will be learning about our some of our mission ministry partners. This week, we will learn a little more about our partner, Miracle Hill Ministries. Students will learn about the four causes of homelessness, such as employment difficulties, health issues, community troubles, and family problems. They will also learn about homelessness and ways to help Miracle Hill.

Miracle Hill Ministries

Miracle Hill Ministries has been serving Greenville, S.C. since 1937. In fact, “Miracle Hill Ministries has been growing and expanding to meet the changing and diverse needs of the homeless, hungry and destitute people.”  Miracle Hill Ministries has become of the largest services to the homeless and hurting in the Upstate of South Carolina. Miracle Hill states, “On any given day we care for more than 650 individuals in our (6) homeless shelters, (2) residential addiction recovery centers, and foster care program.”

Miracle Hill operates under a Christian, or Christ-centered model. They provide “shelter, food, clothing, counseling, educational opportunities and much more. People walk through the doors broken, scared and empty. They leave with purpose, hope and a future full of possibility.”

Miracle Hill Mission Statement

“Miracle Hill exists so that homeless children and adults receive food and shelter with compassion, hear the Good News of Jesus Christ, and move toward healthy relationships and stability.”

Miracle Hill hosts about four homeless shelters. Those homeless shelters are: Miracle Hill Greenville Rescue Mission, Miracle Hill Spartanburg Rescue mission, Miracle Hill Cherokee County Rescue Mission, and Miracle Hill Shepherd’s Gate. Of those, the Cherokee County Rescue Mission and Shepherd’s Gate also house women and mothers with children.

Ways To Help

There are always ways we can help Miracle Hill. To begin with, we can consistently pray for them as they meet the many needs of the homeless population in the Upstate. Secondly, Miracle Hill will gladly accept any donations to their ministry. Financial donations are gladly received as they [Miracle Hill] endeavor to reach the homeless and destitute with the Good News of the Gospel. In similar fashion, shopping at the Miracle Hill thrift stores also helps the ministry tremendously. The thrift stores houses a variety of items such as clothing, home accessories, sporting equipment, etc. That is something to keep in mind when you, or someone you know, is cleaning out their home. Miracle Hill will gladly accept those donations.

Lastly, serving or volunteering at Miracle Hill is always encouraged. A person can take some time and volunteer in a number of ways at the rescue mission or the thrift stores. In conclusion, people who enjoy giving like knowing that what they are giving to is worthwhile. Unmistakably, Miracle Hill is the type of ministry that when you give, you are giving to further the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is a God-honoring worthwhile ministry.
