In a world where people often downplay the role of the millennials in our society, Rocky Creek is blessed to celebrate our millennials being on mission this summer. This year, we launched a new college initiative and gave the collegiates a place to both grow in their faith and to serve through the body of Christ. Rocky Creek provided “College Commit” as a way for students who are local during the school year to “commit” to Rocky Creek as their church while away from their home church during the school year.

Here is what happened as a result of Rocky Creek placing value on millennials:

    • College students are forming relationships with families at Rocky Creek. Some of our families have opened their homes to students on the weekends to allow them to be closer to our campus on Sunday mornings. Instead of just providing lodging, the families have been blessed by having the students in their homes as they watch their children being discipled by the collegiates who are living out their faith and being positive role models.
    • Students are serving and building relationships in the church. It’s not uncommon to walk into the student ministry area and see one of our college interns spending one-on-one time with one of our students as they are challenging all of our students to grow in their faith.
    • Families are able to invest in our collegiates. We have sixteen of our collegiate who need our prayers (and some might still need funding) this summer as they are engaged in missions all across the world. We have students who are serving locally, and we have some serving in Maine, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and New York. As you know, collegiates don’t let borders or bodies of water stop them from sharing the Gospel around the world. We also have collegiates traveling to Ecuador, Mexico, Southern Europe, Niger, and Russia.
