Today, for the Rocky Creek Bible Reading Plan (Dec 2019 – Feb 2020) we will begin reading the book of Zechariah.  He is a contemporary of Haggai, and these two prophets stir up the people to rebuild the temple.  They challenge the people to arise from their indifference and do what God asks.  “Zechariah sought to encourage the people to build the temple in view of the promise that someday Messiah would come and inhabit it.”  “This book is second only to Isaiah in the breadth of the prophets’ writings about Messiah.”  It also gives several images of the messianic kingdom.  As you read, meditate on God’s greatness and His sovereignty.
