The Book of 1 Samuel focuses on the characters Samuel, Saul, and David and their roles in shaping God’s growing nation Israel.  Today, we start working our way through this historical book in the Rocky Creek Bible Reading Plan.  We begin with the events of Samuel’s birth, and then see how Israel is “transformed from a loosely knit group of tribes under ‘judges’ to a united nation under the reign of a centralized monarchy.”  Saul becomes Israel’s first king and then David leads after Saul’s reign is over.  May God teach you much about relationships and obedience to Him as you read through 1 Samuel.
