Today, for the Rocky Creek Bible Reading Plan (Sept – Nov 2019) we will be in the book of Nahum.  This book describes the downfall of Nineveh, the capital of Assyria.  After a time of repentance Nineveh’s destruction was temporarily averted (see book of Jonah).  However, they return to their evil ways and God brings about their downfall, which would bring comfort to Judah.  Their downfall serves as an example for other nations as well.  God is sovereign and the Lord of history and Lord of all nations.  As such He controls the destinies of the nations.

Here’s a video from the Bible Project that will help you understand the book of Nahum better.
