Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. Philippians 2:5-7 ESV

Jesus, the second person of the Trinity, has always existed. God referred to "let US" and "in OUR image" in the creation," referring to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Numerous Old Testament passages refer to Jesus as well. He and the Father are one. They were always together - until Jesus set aside His divinity to become human, to come to earth as a suffering servant, to life as an example, and to die as a substitute sacrifice to pay the penalty for our sins. He was willing to give up everything to allow us to have a relationship with God the Father.

Often, my attitude focuses on me! What I want, what is good for me. I need to learn from Christ; I often think I am doing pretty well with this, but my normal reaction or first thought at a phone call or an interruption is, "how is this affecting me?" Drive down Woodruff Road and see how many people focus on themselves more than the other drivers on the road. If they have to block traffic to get where they want to go, they don't seem to mind if they cause problems for others.

Pray and seek to become more like Christ, taking the attitude of a servant: "Lord, help me to be more like You and to be a servant, to consider others and not just myself."
