The Question: How is evangelism toward children different than with adults? 

Biblical Considerations

• Children are lost until they repent and believe.
• Conversion occurs at the level of a child – “unless you become like a child . . . “

“Truly I tell you,” he said, “unless you turn and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child — this one is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. – Matthew 18:3-4

Then, little children were brought to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray, but the disciples rebuked them. Jesus said, “Leave the little children alone, and don’t try to keep them from coming to me, because the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” After placing his hands on them, he went on from there. – Matthew 19:13-15

• Humility is an essential quality for conversion (Matt 18:3-4).
• A little child can believe in Jesus (Matt. 19:13-15). 
• It is not the will of the Father that any little one should perish (Matt. 18:14).

Principles To Remember

• Make a distinction between the internal experience of conversion and the external experience of the experience.
• Planned fear tactics (or candy tactics) should be avoided.
• Every child should be dealt with individually and discipled after.
• Consider the religious background of the child. 
• The Gospel must be explained in terms understandable to a child.
• Never ignore interest on the part of a child.
• Children need only to accept the Gospel and explain the basics.
• Avoid questions that can have a simple yes or no answer. 
• Children should be led to see the responsibilities as well as the benefits of the Christian life.
