Don't Die Before Living
None of us can escape that our lives will end, but we can do something about how we take advantage of the opportunities given. Don’t overlook God’s gifts along the way.
Listen
- No amount of righteous behavior can guarantee ease in this life (9:1).
- Death awaits every person – regardless of how virtuous they are (9:2-3).
- If you receive the gift of another day, you still have time to make this life count (9:4).
- The rewards we await will not be received on earth (9:5-6).
- Slow down to enjoy the things that bring nourishment and enjoyment (9:7).
- Be eagerly prepared for whatever the day may bring (9:8).
- Marriage is a gift to be enjoyed, not endured (9:9).
- You will never experience satisfaction in your work if you do it half-heartedly (9:10).
Consider
- You can’t properly enjoy the things of earth until you securely know your position in heaven.
- Don’t take it personally when life rewards you with bad stuff for doing good things.
- If your life feels wearisome, evaluate why and make the necessary changes.
- To enjoy life, feast gratefully, prepare thoroughly, connect relationally, and work purposefully.
