Life’s Biggest Questions- What is Life?

Most people have questions about life. Many have asked, "What is this life for?" "Does God truly exist?" "If there is a God, does He care about my pains?" and "Does God have a plan for my life?" The quick answer to these questions is "yes, there is purpose and yes, God exist and He has a plan, namely, His will."

Everyone wants a meaningful life. Pastor Erik Thoennes writes, “There is nothing more human than wondering what that means. Even in days filled with shallowness and countless distractions, when the light goes out at the end of the day and you lie in bed staring at the ceiling, you aren’t human if you don’t think about what it all means.” Some of us let our minds wander a bit to make sense of it all, that is, until our wandering collides with God’s Word. God’s Word gives our wandering hearts and mind the answers to life’s biggest questions. For instance, John 3:16 explains that God provides salvation through Jesus. The verse says, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in him is should not perish but have eternal life.”

God’s Word is our anchor for hope, direction, counsel, wisdom, and salvation. When we look at life, and try to make sense of it all, we must remember John 10:10. John writes, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I [Jesus] came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”  Jesus “alone can bring life that is abundantly fulfilling and eternally significant.”  He is our hope, our anchor, our everything when life is in disarray.

God is trustworthy and faithful to guide us to a meaningful life through Christ. When life seems out of sorts, we can remind ourselves of Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths."
