God’s blessing is a means to the end of God’s way of being known among all nations. How are we using the gifts of God to fulfill the commission of God?
- Our world is out of balance because we don’t want God at the center.
- God’s blessings are a means to the end of God’s way being known among all peoples.
- The goal of global missions is worldwide worship.
Psalm 67:1-7
67 May God be gracious to us and bless us
and make his face to shine upon us, Selah
2 that your way may be known on earth,
your saving power among all nations.
3 Let the peoples praise you, O God;
let all the peoples praise you!
4 Let the nations be glad and sing for joy,
for you judge the peoples with equity
and guide the nations upon earth. Selah
5 Let the peoples praise you, O God;
let all the peoples praise you!
6 The earth has yielded its increase;
God, our God, shall bless us.
7 God shall bless us;
let all the ends of the earth fear him!
Why Have We Settled for Mediocre Missions?
- The Shine Has Become Dull (67:1) – It will be near impossible to shine a light in dark places if we aren’t still glowing from being in His presence.
- The Blessings Have Become Hoarded (67:2) – We cannot be aggressive in missions if we hoard all the resources to ourselves.
- The Tribalism Has Become Accepted (67:3, 5) – Believing that God is only for people like you is the antithesis of the gospel.
- The Message Has Become Altered (67:4) – If the message of God’s people sounds like bad news, it is not the gospel.
- The Direction Has Become Confusing (67:4) – We cannot point people toward truth if we don’t know the way ourselves.
- The Glory Days Have Passed (67:6) – If God has worked in the past, why would we think He is unable to work in the future?
- The Resources Have Been Reallocated (67:7) – The blessings of God are intended to fuel the mission of God – not immobilize the religious.
Your passion for the mission will never outgrow your zeal for God.
