Observations
- The coming Messiah was promised to bring about spiritual deliverance (Is. 49:1).
- The Servant of the LORD deserves the attention of the nations (Is. 49:1).
- The Word of God is meant to be used with those up close and those far away (Is. 49:2).
- The cross of Christ brought glory to God and provided salvation for us (Is. 49:3-4).
- Jesus’ work was the task of reconciliation (Is. 49:5).
- Restoring religious people is a great task but not great enough for Jesus (Is. 49:6).
- The message and messengers of Christ have nothing less than a worldwide agenda of salvation (Is. 49:6).
- Jesus will receive worship from all nations (Is. 49:7).
Applications
- The Church should not entertain small goals and limited efforts for Kingdom work.
- It is too small a goal to hope that our church will grow with more religious people.
- We should work to multiply disciples in such a way that generations unborn and nations unreached are eternally changed.
