Faithful Redemption

Our works could not save us; in fact, they only condemned us. Through the sacrifice of Jesus, we obtain the faithful redemption that we require under sin’s curse.

Scripture
Galatians 3:10-14

Self-Righteousness (3:10; cf. Deut. 27:26)

  • God’s law is such a good standard that even good people can’t keep it perfectly.
  • If you cannot obey everything in Scripture, you have no chance of meeting God’s requirements.
  • If your life were a test, what grade would God give you?

Christ’s Righteousness (3:11-12; cf. Hab. 2:14; Lev. 18:5)

  • The world teaches you to have faith in yourself (what you can do); the gospel offers you to have faith in Jesus (what He has done).
  • The law is the best standard but an insufficient savior.
  • How good are your chances of proving to all-knowing God that you are a superb person?

Your Righteousness (3:13-14; cf. Deut. 21:23)

  • The only way to avoid punishment is if Christ stood in our place.
  • Our guilt sent Jesus to the cross, but His guiltlessness freed Him from the tomb.
  • Do you have enough faith that Jesus can redeem the likes of you?
