When Demons Are Tolerated and Jesus Is Rejected
When Jesus delivered a man from demonic possession, the people had less acceptance of the deliverer than they had for the demoniac. When Jesus threatens our comfort and affluence, we can seek to rid ourselves from His influence as well.
Redemption (Mark 5:1-13)
- While Jesus’ disciples were unsure of His identity, the demonized man was confident that Jesus was the Son of God.
- The demons almost had complete control of this man, but Jesus had complete authority over them.
- Satan’s forces want to destroy anything that has to do with God.
- The demon-possessed find their grave in the spot intended for Jesus.
Reaction (Mark 5:14-20)
- Seeing a transformed life causes some people to retreat in fear of what Jesus may call them to do.
- The people had less acceptance of the things of God than they did the things of the devil.
- When you’ve experienced the mercy of Jesus, you have to tell somebody.
Response
- Satan’s plan for your life is to drive you off of a cliff.
- Beware that you are not more concerned with your finances than another’s salvation.
- To release us from sin’s grasp, Jesus took our place.
- Your story should cause others to marvel at the mercy of Jesus.
