Scripture
1 Peter 1:6–9

Examine the Passage

  • We can rejoice even in suffering since we know that the worst this world has to offer is only temporary (1:6).
  • We reveal our true character in how we respond through trials (1:7).
  • The refining fire is necessary if we desire to display His reflection (1:7).
  • Those who don’t have a genuine love for Jesus won’t continue to follow when times get tough (1:8).
  • Faith in future promises allows unshakable and unexplainable joy (1:8).
  • When you realize your soul is secure, what happens in your life becomes inconsequential (1:9).

Examine Your Heart

  • Suffering will either make you bitter or better.
  • The current devastating details of your life will not continue for eternity.
  • God can use your faithful example amid suffering to keep somebody else afloat.
  • Don’t miss the opportunity for trials to reprioritize what is most important to you.
