How to Reenter the Presence of God

Sermon Notes

Observations

  • The tabernacle’s divisions were not to keep people from God but to keep God from the people (26:1-30).
  • Reminiscent of Eden, the curtains woven with cherubim reminded them how sin exiles people from God (26:31-37).
  • God ensured that the mobile bronze altar was the first sight of worshipers to reinforce their need for a sacrifice (27:1-8).
  • The courtyard reminded the people of their need for a brave high priest to mediate for them (27:9-19).
  • God wanted the lampstand lit continually to reinforce His unwavering light even amid dark times (27:20-21).

Applications

  • If you want to reenter the presence of God, let me reintroduce you to Jesus.
  • Jesus is the better tabernacle, making a way to dwell with God.
  • Jesus is the better Eden guardian, disarming the cherubim and welcoming us into paradise.
  • Jesus is the better sacrifice, given once and for all by satisfying the wrath of God.
  • Jesus is the better high priest, who mediated our condition before the throne of God.
  • Jesus is the better light who shines our way through the world’s darkness.
